I am going to tell you how I went from having an AWESOME Squat of 5 plates per side to the point where I couldn’t squat 135lb.
I am not lying.

Here are the 10 steps to doing this

1. Lift Heavy ALL The Time
2. Don’t Stretch
3. Don’t Warmup Properly
4. Don’t Do ANY Mobility Work
5. Don’t Do Soft Tissue Work
6. Don’t Work the smaller muscles, focus on big muscles only
7. Develop Imbalances (and not fix them)
8. Think that you can “Push Through” Pain
9. Ignore warning signs your body is giving you
10. Go home, slam a protein shake and think that is “Post Workout Recovery”

Let me ask you something.  How many of the 10 above are YOU?   Seriously….

How many?  3?  5? 8?

Well then LISTEN UP because right now ALL my training is learning how to RETRAIN my body because of DAMAGE I did.

The Only thing Cooler Than Gold’s Venice is MY T-SHIRT!

Let me start by saying this was surprinsgly one of the coolest experiences of my life!

I was in California a few weeks ago on Business and decided to stay an extra day to check out “The Mecca Of BodyBuilding – Gold’s Gym Venice Beach”.

WOW What an experience!  It was far beyond what I expected and more!!  I don’t even know where to begin.

Me and my good friend Andy Pratt got up early on a Monday morning to hit “The Mecca”.  It was within walking distance from our hotel.  So we packed our bags, slammed back some Decimate Pre Workout and headed to Golds Gym.

Not being too familiar with Venice Beach area I wondered if we were in the right area. I am now known for being very good with directions or maps so getting lost was a very good possibility :) .  However as we approached the gym (thank you Iphone and Maps) my heart started to beat a little faster.

In the middle of almost nowhere was “The Mecca Of BodyBuilding – Golds Gym”.  Simply amazing!  My heart raced, I was 16 once again reading about the old school pros, Arnold, Franco, Draper, Zane, are just a few names to go through my brain at a mile a minute!  Just walking up was a rush of excitement (and we haven’t even entered the Gym yet!)

cb abs Interview with Fat Loss Expert Craig BallantyneCraig first off thanks for taking the time for this interview.   I know your  very busy.  Maybe you can share some quick back ground  for readers than may not be familiar with you and your area of  knowledge.

Like most folks in the fitness industry, I played a lot of sports when I was  younger. That led to weight training. From there, I realized I wanted to be  a strength coach in professional sports.

I went to school for Kinesiology, which then led to a Master’s Degree in  Exercise Physiology. Along the way I studied what made a good NHL Strength  Coach (they had Master’s Degrees and were Certified Strength And  Conditioning Specialists – CSCS).

I also started training athletes, along with men and women for fat loss.

Then I started working with Men’s Health in 2000. And I invented Turbulence  Training in 1999, and finally put it online in 2001. The rest is history.


You have traveled all over the world and coached thousands of  people in how to build more muscle and lose fat etc.  What are the  common themes you see of why people fail and how people succeed.  I’m  a big believer of Anthony Robbins quote that “Success leaves clues”   Anything you would like to add to that?

Marc first off thank you for taking the time for this Interview!  I know your very busy both with your business & upcoming competition. Maybe you can tell us what competition you are training for at the moment and how long you are dieting.  I follow you on Facebook an dude you are ALWAYS SHREDDED!

I am honored to be interviewed! I am training for the NPC Great Lakes Grand Prix in Columbus, OH on September 18 and the Mr. Australia on October 24. I am dieting for 10 weeks total for the 1st show and 16 weeks total for the 2nd show. I try to maintain photoshoot and videoshoot condition year-round to fully represent Scivation and Primaforce as an owner who practices what he preaches!

Is your gym making you fat & lazy?

Is your gym making YOU FAT & LAZY?

I have a question for you.  When was the last time you had a HARD workout?

Think about it for a second…..  When was the last time you felt that you WORKED OUT, not exercised.  I am not talking a little sweat or a little pump, i mean a HARD WORKOUT.

My guess is not recently.  Want to know why I feel this way?

Because your gym is MAKING YOU LAZY!!

A Fitness Center (Gym or whatever we call it) is a SERVICE to you.  They want you to come in, feel good, enjoy the atmosphere, the overall “experience”.  That’s great if your Starbucks but what about your gym?  Are they sabotaging you without you knowing it?

In my opinion YES they are and here is why!
